Living In A Dream

We have disappeared into a wonderful holiday since 25 Dec 07. We are hiding in a nice home in KL, eat and sleep, shop and swim, work a little at night. By now we've done the essential list of activities - meeting old friends, bought a new sling, milk powder in ringgit, vincci-ed, fos, petaling street. We are going to eat fatty crabs, roti boy, ampang yong tao foo. We are even fantasizing to go gymboree-ing here. Oooh what a merry x'mas.

The living-in-a-dream life is going to last till 1 Jan 08.

Laughed Like Teenagers

Our good friend did an extremely smart property management. Within winks of sell now rent now buy later, she is going to live in a landed house for 2 years. She so deserve it.

We went to her new place for the belated Novemeber gathering. We had super bad mix of food but extremely good mix of topics. Food - Indian food, with durian, with red wine, pork rib soup and curry puffs. Topics - an-ex-colleague-who-slimmed-down, dog’s IQ, Hwa Chong JC, paintings, gays, neighbour’s-eerie-cat and psycho-dog, property, maids, ducks quacks, cars, how-to-choose-branded-bags (wipe a tissue and flak the leather). The hubbies joined, and we laughed like we were teenagers till 2am.

The next morning my tummy was upset by the mix of curry and durian feast. As I pulled the last bit of toilet paper, I thought, it’s still worth it!!

Health Scare - Part 3

I took the lift up to the clinic. I waited for lifelong 20 minutes and it was my turn.

ME: I have a lump on my head, this must be a bad growth?
DR: Is this painful? *press*
ME: Yeah. Am I going to die?
DR: I think it’s a scalp infection. I’ll give you cream it should be ok in a few days.
ME: Really?!

I applied the cream for a few days, and the lump miraculously disappeared. You cannot imagine how relieved I felt. At the same time, while I’m a stubborn free-thinker, I thank God for giving me another chance. Thanks to my free-thinker's God again, for making realised that I am very fortunate to have a loving hubby and lovable kids. I love my life.

I think I should share this emotional, frightening, and awakening episode. Take a moment to think about how much you love your life.

Health Scare - Part 2

I suspected the lump could be some kind of bad cell growth, and I started feeling weak emotionally and physically.

Physically I thought I felt lethargic, I thought I have more hair fall. Emotionally I felt worried and sad for my kids and hubby. I did a bit more charity, I thought ... “well while I still can”. I prayed to God to let this be unreal. I thought to myself how blessed I was all these while, I expected the worst, and I wanted myself to be strong.

And then I’d decided, no matter how busy I was, I needed to see a doctor.

Confinement Nanny

This is the confinement nanny who took care of us after I gave birth to Bevan. My cousin recently gave birth to a really pretty, double-eyelids and pink-cheeked baby Chloe. They engaged the same confinement nanny. Her name is Elsie

Nanny Elsie was a very traditional (that means...), yet english-speaking, sociable lady. No miracles - Bevan did not recognise her. She remembered him as the days-old-newborn who held tight to her collar while she bathed him. It’s really sweet to meet her again, and to have a picture with his first other-than-parents-caregiver.

Health Scare - Part 1

I had frequent headaches since I was 4. I’ve seen a few doctors and specialists

DR: Which side is painful?
ME: Sometimes right, sometimes left, sometimes the entire head is painful.
DR: Oh it’s just migraine or tension headache. We should be worried if it’s always on one point, because that, could suggest tumour.

I was so glad mine is not.

But recently I felt painful on top of my head, slightly towards the right. When I touched it, I felt a lump, it’s painful and somehow I thought it’s spreading slowly.

Overhaul A Mercedez

One Sunday night, after having dinner, my parents drove to Orchard Road for a romantic Christmas-lighting car ride. As they were chatting, their Mercedez E200 Kompressor broke down infront of CK Tang. It was towed to the workshop. Today they received a call from Cycle & Carriage - the 5-year-mercedez needs an overhaul and the repair charges amount to...

$30,000!!!

They got it towed out from Cycle & Carriage to a normal workshop. And it costs

$3,000.

The first time we send a car to workshop without negotiating.

Another no-salt-no-sugar-but-yummy recipe from mdm koo’s kitchen.
1. Cut chicken fillet in thin slices, dap with egg and biscuit crumbs, fry
2. Prepare sauce separately - mix water, milo, honey, and corn flour.
3. Mix all and stir fry
Try to same recipe with coffee, tea, ovaltine, holicks, chocolate, or wine!
