Up We Go!

4 Months & 15 Days

I don't know how can people work on Chinese New Year eve. We should declare any holiday eve a holiday too. Oh of course then we still have a problem with eve of holiday eve.

Though I have to complete GST filing, take jewel photos for v day promotion, pay salary and confirm up the Feb designs. My heart is yelling Gong Xi Gong Xi and my mind has floating images of Bevan sleeping in a hotel and bathing in my KL home.

So here it is -- we are going to KL and Genting!!

We have a crazy plan to wake up at 530am tomorrow morning, and then leave home at 630am. We reach KL, rest enough (or not enough) and then we will go up to Genting. Have our reunion dinner there with a group of relatives who will come and kiss and squeeze and tickle Bevan. We will then go to the casino (woops Bevan cannot go in) and play in theme park (wooops not for Bevan too) in Genting for another day before we go back to KL. Hooray!

When I am in KL, I am going to cut hair do pedicure buy pampers clothes hangers hubby's jeans my shoes CNY foodies and mirror for my shop. I want to take lots and lots of pictures and eat lots and lots of food and get really really fat.

Hubby is snoring away now. So I will try to control my excitement and sleep. If there is generous and powerful network to tap on I will be updating our pictures soon.

Mickey Mouse's Tongue

4 Months & 12 Days

I am trying hard to put off the fire burning inside me. The burning excitement about the coming holidays!! It's so so so tough. The excitement itself worth another blog altogether. I am going to ... for .... days and I have crazy plans to do.... and buy..... Argghh. Control Control Control.

Bevan sticks out his tongue whenever he is happy. While the grandparents say no to his new achieved act, its hard to make him understand that other people (generally) do not stick out their tougues when they are happy.

Probably with the exception of cartoon characters. Come'on, look at Mr Mickey Mouse. I have been pondering over the last 10 min, is he sticking out his tongue? Can you actually smile so widely that you are showing as much tongue as Mickey Mouse? I can't do it without looking cramp-faced. If you can please take a photo of yourself and send it to me. pleeeasse.

Bevan now smiles when he sees his milk bottle, and sucks his fingers one by one (rather than a mouth full of fingers). What a relief, I was worried he will get a big mouth if he continue to squeeze all 5 at once.

Happy Birthday to Leslie

4 Months & 9 days

It was Leslie's birthday, his first birthday with Bevan. We ate a blackforest cake went Ajisen again and shopped at men's department, as a sweet mini celebration.

For people who don't know Leslie, Leslie is someone who cracks jokes that make you frown/puzzle/scratch head/puke/smile politely. For people who know him, you are nodding your head vigrously.

However, one sweet night when we were having a little chat.

Amanda [it's my hobby to ask clueless & cruel questions like this in the middle of the night]: Are you afraid of getting old?
Leslie: Yeap
Amanda [thinking wow he actually said yes]: Why?
Leslie: Because I will not be able to take care of you so well when I become old. Now I can bring you to anywhere to make you happy. But if I become old I will not be able to do so.
[10 out of 10]
Amanda: Why do you take care of me so well?
Leslie: I don't know. I feel like I am born to take care of you.
[Another 10 out of 10]

Ooooh I am so touched. So that is why he nagged and nagged when I over-drank ice lemon tea kicked blanket away dried my hair with aircon dressed in low v-neck and wore contact lens 10X7?

Nevermind that he is not a good joker. To me, he is the best.

Ginseng & the City

4 months & 8 days

Today I met up with the bobim gang again. And we did lots of gossiping and bitching and laughing. It was never enough. We had a heavy dinner at crystal jade ginseng restaurant. I like the ginseng chicken, but I thought the crab soup is crap. After that we slided ourselves to the coffee bean. I will never go to that coffee bean again. Its as noisy as a disco club and yet not hip enough for us to shake our bods. The next time I will insist to go somewhere which play some nice jazz music where we get to cross our legs blink our diamonds sip a colorful cold drink chat softly and laugh loudly. Grrrr.

ISPD (the department I was with in the orange telco) will be dissolved and turned into a history soon. I will remember the time when we as an adorably young and chirpy department, fearlessly did flying fox at Pulau Ubin, proudly won first prize in D&D performance (I acted as cleopatra!), and ran for our lives (until nearly no life) in Road Relay. This is cliche, but really, the memories will stay on.

Bye bye, ISPD.

Goodnight Everybody

4 Months & 6 Days

There is something between Leslie and I.

Literally. And that is none other than Bevan.

Tonight is the third night. Bevan fell asleep at 11 plus, and then at 1 plus I heard his irritated screams. When I rushed to his bed I saw him doing a half turn (got stuck by the side of his cot). I carried him to my bed and pat him to sleep.

The first night I thought he was cold, the second night I thought his cot is too small for him to do his new favorite stun (turning from his back to front), the third night now and I am not sure. Maybe he just wants to hear Daddy's snoring better?

He sleeps sweetly now. But not me.

I have to wake up so many times to make sure that I have not kicked him off the bed. Or used him as my bolster.

Today VS Yesterday

4 Months & 3 Days

Bevan today is different from Bevan yesterday.

First and foremost, he wore pink. Bevan has a very doting grandpa who couldn't bear the sight of Bevan wearing short sleeves in aircon rooms. And so he bought 3 sets of new outfits, including a pink top and orange bottom. Today for the fun of it, I dressed my baby boy in the pink top and orange bottom.

Yoohoo Bevan in sweet pink. Fun!

And secondly, Bevan amused us (and also himself) by flipping from his back to front more than 100 times (slight exaggeration) today. In fact he flipped whenever he had a chance. So it was madness more than fun, he flipped, we turned him over, he flipped again, we turned him over again.

To my horror, even when I was changing diaper for him, he wanted to flipped in the mess of wee and poo.

Arrghh.

Good Hot Friday

4 Months & 1 Day

I am so bloated now. We went to Ajisen (Bishan Juction 8) and I ate up plus slurped dry a fiercely hot Vocanno Ramen, I also helpfully dry up Leslie's bowl of Spicy Chasu Ramen. I am a super soup-er! After that we tried to revive our dating mood and went to Coffee Bean to chat. What is Coffee Bean without cheese cake? So I happily swallowed a chicago cheese cake.

Diet? That will start tomorrow, like always.

Bee-ven or Beh-ven?

4 Months

I have just handed the adorable crying monster over to Leslie so that I can sit down (actually lie down) to blog. You cannot imagine how oo-aa comfortable I am blogging under the cool sky and singing a malay rhyme januari, hujan hari hari (january, raining everyday).

Bevan is now 4 months! He can now call baba mama and mum mum. I am 100% sure he doesn't know what these words mean, they were just some coincidental noises that he made. But the thing is, when he is sick or hungry he calls mama, and when he is bored he calls baba. Am i so not fun to play with? Anyway, his favourite word, or noise rather, is "pppPoooot" (with saliva oooozing out of his mouth, see picture), luckily he usually make this embarassing sound during sleeping time.

His new styles include -- he sleeps through the night, he holds his hands together (like gong xi fat choy), he can do little sit ups, he laughs uncontrollably when we say "fresh fresh!" in high pitch.

Oh ya so Bee-ven or Beh-ven?
Bee-ven as in be-cause
Beh-ven as in be-verage

Its up to you. At home we call him Bee-ven because it sounds baby-like. Maybe he would think its uncool. Bevan if you are reading this when you are 12 (and I will be 30+++) you can decide how you want to introduce yourself. We are going to beeeee-ven you, like it or not.

Hari Raya Haji

3 Months & 29 Days

On the beautiful rainy day of Hari Raya Haji. I gather that we should celebrate festivals that are of no meaning to us, so as to maintain a harmonious society*. While Riyah explained to me people in her kampong would potong kambing (translate: cut sheeps, just like others cut chicken cut turkey) to celebrate this day, I went shopping at Isetan.

The great fattening Chinese New Year is approaching and that is a great excuse, err I mean reason, to buy clothes.

I happily contributed to Singapore economy and to the annual profit of Isetan, and bought a few tops and a few skirts and got myself a few VIP cards. I know most of my friends have grown pass (or riched pass) IORA, but I am now a Very Important Person of IORA, look for me if you like to go IORA-ing with me.

Hey by the way it was so difficult (with a capital d) to get that card, I have to force myself to buy a flower broach (which I already have) and a shinny belt (which I am not sure if I would wear) to be entitled to get that wow-wee-woo VIP card.

Selamat Hari Raya Haji to all!

Angel or Monster

3 Months & 24 Days

Just when I thought I have the best domestic helper in the world.

Riyah threw tantrum at me last night when I said I will clean baby up myself. She actually threw the tower back to the bowl. She is not as sweet and nice as before. There are many other examples to quote but I think I should respect her human rights human privacy whatever and not blog it out.

The Queen of Paranoid Mama

3 Months & 23 Days

If you consider yourself a paranoid mama, check me out first.

As much as we like to avoid it, Bevan still got the fever virus from his Daddy *loud sigh*. Leslie joined us after spending one night of singing "are you lonesome tonight"in the study room. Leslie was still having slight fever but we, the ignorant parents, thought Bevan is a superman who is immuned to all virus. Anyway when I had flu he didn't catch it.

Bevan's temperature went up to 38.6 degrees (my osim thermometer said 39.3 degree. Hello? Osim? ok ok don't sue me maybe I used it wrongly). As usual I did what a Paranoid Queen would do, I called almost all my friends relatives who have kids regardless of age race gender and the fact that it was already sleeping hours. Finally we concluded that we should rush him to the doctor.

Bevan kept saying "a ma ma ma ma ma... a ma ma ma ma ma" during the journey there. I would have cried seeing him suffer if he did not act that cute. This marked the first time Bevan fell sick (I was told by many that 37.5 is not considered a fever for young babies. So wrong title on my previous blog) He was sponged by the nurse. The doctor nurse me leslie expected Bevan to cry during sponging, but he raised his mouth and almost complete a smile to the nurse. Think he enjoyed the spa session.

Too bad I didn't take a picture during the sponging. That is beyond a paranoid mama at a paranoid moment.

Grandma's Birthday

3 Months & 20 Days

Its Bevan's Grandma my mother's birthday. So we had a celebration at home before we went to the restaurant and ate up some tiger fish and chicken from head to tail leslie's favourite sweet and sour pork my favourite soup and others.

Meet Leslie, Riyah, My Mom with Bevan and My Dad.

I intend to give my mom a handphone which she has yet to choose the model, and I suggested to my Dad to buy my mom another branded bag to join in my festive materialistic mood.

Talking about birthday, I must show these 2 pictures. These were taken on my birthday when Bevan was 2 to 3 weeks old and that was before I started a blog. My favourite -- Mainly because I thought I look pretty fresh even though I was famished. Confinement nanny has left and I was left home alone with the baby.

So what do you think? Is he a mini Leslie or a mini me?

Room Alone

3 Months & 20 Days

Tonight Baby and I share a bed. While Leslie sleeps in the other room.

Nope we did not quarrel. It's because leslie is down with flu and he doesn't want to spread the germs. Suddenly I feel like a teenager, with parents in overseas, and I have the whole house to myself, and am so very eager to turn it upside down.

So tonight I am going to surf the net all night, and
read blog post blog all night.

Of course I miss leslie and hope that his flu will be gone by tomorrow.

Update on 3/1 PM: Sleeping with my baby is the sweetest feeling in the world. I am smiling just by thinking about it.

The Baby Boy Band

3 Months & 20 Days

Past 2 days have been so eventful. I didn't have time to publish the so many pictures taken in the few home-based gatherings. The gatherings are packed with people whom we meet only during festivals. It's crazy but fun.

Here I am enhancing my blog with pictures. These were taken on new year eve, in Leslie's sister's house. Meet the Cousins Boy Band -- Nicholas, Kieran, Bevan and Daryl.

We ran from one house to another, by the end of the day. We are a family of zombies.

24 Hour Clinic

3 Months & 19 Days

Bevan's poo was different from usual and you can imagine how panic I was. We rushed to the clinic and had the most remarkable experience.

“Doctor my baby is 3 months plus and I think his poo has streaks of blood today.”
“Were the stools hard or soft?”
“We brought his diaper here, would you like to take a look?” I did what the nurses from TMC asked me to do when I suspected a diarrhea 2 months ago.

To my ultimate surprise, the doctor gave me a that’s-beside-the-point-I’ll-take-a-look-if-you-insist look.

He took a quick glance and said:

“Ok there are 2 possibility: one is he was having a constipation and therefore passing out motion with blood that’s very common.”
“Second one is more serious there could be digestive system blockage and I will have to refer you to hospital for that.”

He has done a good job to scare me.

“So you saw the diaper just now, does that look like constipated poo?”
“That’s hard to say”’
“Err hard to say? How does constipated poo looks like?”
“As big as a fist.” He clenched his fist and showed me.
“Huh?” Did he just untied himself and ran out from woodbridge? Baby's poo, as big as his fist?
“”This must be your first baby is it?” He returned me with a you-jungle-woman-know-nothing look.

The jungle and woodbridge tension kept building up, and this doctor is not helping to rule out possibilities.

When we went out to pay money, the nurse asked us. “So your baby need an MC?”

We quickly ran out of the clinic.

Update on 1/1 pm: Bevan is alright now, think he is just heaty after drinking my spicy milk. I have been enjoying chilli frog leg porridge, chocolate, durian, curry chicken for the past few days.
